Fundación SES joins the United Nations Global Initiative on Decent Jobs for Youth

Recently, Fundación SES joined the United Nations Global Initiative on Decent Jobs for Youth, committing to developing young people’s transferable and social-emotional skills as well as their access to education, employment, and entrepreneurial opportunities though the implementation of sport and capacity building programs in Latin America, the Caribbean and Europe. Fundación SES partners with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to build a better world through sport by bringing together social impact initiatives and diverse organizations under one shared vision.

More specifically, the commitment includes a Youth-for-Youth projects’ seed fund aiming to finance 10 projects through open competition and 3 pilot projects to improve the employability of youths within minority groups. Fundación SES also promotes youth participation in designing and implementing initiatives for rights and social inclusion, and convening multisectoral dialogue spaces to facilitate youth inclusion.

So far 13’363 young people already took part in the program portfolio and reported improved personal skills and knowledge and increased job access and retention. Fundación SES aims to reach 50’000 youth for the period 2023-25.

The Global Initiative on Decent Jobs for Youth and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development

Decent Jobs for Youth was launched in 2016 as a joint effort of the United Nations System, focused on the challenge of youth employment, which is a central element of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. It has emerged as a global and multi-stakeholder initiative that brings together governments, social partners, the private sector, youth, and civil society organizations, among others.

Strategic alliances and coordinated work between these actors allow them to share knowledge, benefit from resources and take relevant measures at the national and regional level to support young people in their insertion into formal, decent, and productive work around the world.
